| Mark was born in New
York. When he was 12, the family moved to the Martinez, California
area where he has lived ever since. He graduated from Mt. Diablo
high school. He attended college at DVC, majoring in business management.
He is married to Sue, who understands and supports Mark’s
passion for racing.
Mark owns Ace Tire Co. in Martinez, California. They specialize
in tires, suspension, brakes, alignment and general service for
all types of cars and trucks. Mark is trained in Hunter Engineering,
alignment, suspension and tires.
Mark has been racing his own cars and crewing for others for the
last 25 years. Along the way he has taken many classes on chassis
development and engineering. He has attended the Bob Harris chassis
school and has received Penske shocks training. He also attended
the Jim Russell School of driving. Most recently, he attended Finish
Line Racing School in Florida by Mike Loescher. He attended that
three day driving and chassis set up school along with current Ray
Evernham driver Erin Crocker.
Mark started racing his own car during high school in 1981. It
was the show stopper 1964 Falcon. He raced that car at a dirt track
in Antioch Speedway. Next, he raced a 1969 Chevelle for a few years
before moving up to a dirt modified. He won Rookie of the Year for
the dirt modified at Antioch. He then went asphalt racing and currently
owns a spec motor modified set up for Altamont Raceway. He won one
main event race in his modified in 2004 at Altamont.
Mark crewed for Terry DeCarlo Sr. for two years, running a dirt
modified throughout California. He has also crewed for his son Terry.
Mark also crewed for Gary Buccellato for three years, winning two
championships and Rookie of the Year. He also crewed for Scott Busby
in the NASCAR Southwest Tour for four years. Mark is excellent at
race car prep, chassis tuning and a great race day spotter.
Mark is also the founder of JACK Racing program (Just About Correcting
Kids). The program works with young up and coming people that have
had a few problems at school or with life. The program shows kids
the discipline, teamwork and rewards that racing has to offer. Campbell
Racing is proud to support the JACK Racing program this year and
will have a few people helping out the team.
